A 22-acre industrial estate in Manesar housing 14 manufacturing units employed 18 security guards across 3 shifts to patrol buildings, perimeter, parking and gate areas. The estate management had no visibility into whether guards were completing their assigned rounds. CCTV footage reviewed after a night-time theft incident revealed a guard had been sleeping in the security cabin from 2 AM to 5 AM — the blind spot in patrol coverage was where the break-in occurred. When management reviewed patrol records, they found all rounds had been signed off as completed. There was no mechanism to distinguish a genuine patrol from a falsified paper record. Following the incident, management mandated an electronic guard patrol system with real-time verification and management alerts — deployed and operational within 3 weeks.
Guard Patrol Management for a 22-Acre Industrial Estate — From Zero Accountability to Full Compliance
Pujaso conducted a patrol route design exercise with the estate's security supervisor, mapping 6 patrol routes across the estate covering 68 mandatory checkpoint locations: building entrances (18), perimeter corners and gates (22), parking areas and loading bays (14), substation and utilities (8), and internal road junctions (6).
68 NFC checkpoint tags were installed at each mandatory location — each tag is embedded in a tamper-evident casing fixed to the wall. Guards cannot pre-scan or batch-scan; each tag can only be scanned when physically present at that location.
Each guard was issued a rugged NFC-enabled patrol handset loaded with the patrol management app. At the start of each shift, the guard logs in with their PIN, selects their assigned route and begins their patrol. Each checkpoint scan is time-stamped, GPS-confirmed and uploaded to the cloud dashboard in real time.
The management dashboard gives estate management a live view of all guards on duty, real-time patrol progress, and a status indicator for every checkpoint. Two alert rules were configured: a WhatsApp and app alert is sent to the duty supervisor if any checkpoint is not scanned within the scheduled window, and an immediate alert if a guard has not scanned any checkpoint for 45 minutes during an active shift.
Weekly and monthly patrol compliance reports are automatically generated and emailed to estate management — showing patrol completion rate per guard, per shift and per route.
