A Delhi NCR supermarket chain operating 8 outlets was experiencing annual shrink of 2.8% — significantly above the industry average of 1.4%. Loss prevention analysis identified organised shoplifting groups responsible for approximately 60% of shrink, with employee pilferage accounting for the remainder. Standard CCTV had not deterred theft and the security team lacked the capacity to manually monitor all stores. Management set a target of halving shrink within 12 months.
EAS & AI CCTV Deployment Across 8 Supermarket Outlets
Pujaso recommended a two-layer solution: Sensormatic EAS for tagged merchandise protection at exits, and Hikvision AI cameras with behavioural analytics for in-store intelligence.
Each outlet received Sensormatic AM EAS pedestals at all exit points, with source-tagging applied to high-value merchandise categories (personal care, spirits, premium packaged foods). Existing merchandise displays were reorganised by the client to optimise EAS antenna coverage.
Hikvision AI cameras were installed at 12 key positions per store: entrance, all merchandise aisles, checkout lanes and exits. AI rules were configured for: loitering detection near high-value bays (alert after 90 seconds), concealment behaviour (person facing away from camera in merchandise zone), and EAS alarm video linkage (camera auto-records and captures 30-second clip on every EAS activation).
A central monitoring dashboard connected all 8 stores — security manager receives consolidated alerts and can pull any store's live feed from a mobile device.
